The honest answers

I'm out of shape.

That's where almost everyone starts. Class builds your conditioning. Waiting until you're fit means waiting forever.

Am I too old?

No. One of our members started after 40 and earned her blue belt two years later. Read: Am I Too Old to Start Jiu Jitsu?

Will I get hurt?

You control the pace. You tap when you're caught, your partner lets go, and you start again. Rules are enforced on this mat, and egos stay at the door.

I don't know anyone.

You will by the end of your first week. Training partners become friends fast when you're solving the same problems together.

Gi or No-Gi?

Both are on the schedule. Gi teaches grips and patience; No-Gi is faster and closer to self-defense in street clothes. Most members do both.

Beyond the mat

Train, recover, repeat

Members and their families get the whole facility, not just the mat.

“There are many class times and the classes I've gone to have been appropriately challenging with friendly staff and members who are open to helping others. I was new to BJJ and have had a great experience so far.”
